About the Furumizu Lab

More details to follow shortly.

Ongoing research projects:

  1. Evolution of short peptide-mediated signaling systems in plants.
  2. Molecular mechanisms of interspecies communications between plants and microbes.
  3. Roles of post-transcriptional RNA modifications in plants.

In our research, we use phylogenetically diverse plants, such as Marchantia polymorpha (a liverwort), Selaginella moellendorffii (a lycophyte), Solanum lycopersicum (tomato), and Arabidopsis thaliana (thale cress). We are planning to use mammalian cell lines, too, in the near future.

Our research has been supported by the following funding agencies:
Foundation of Kinoshita Memorial Enterprise;
Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life at Hiroshima University;
JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science);
LOTTE Foundation;
Naito Foundation;
Nakatsuji Foresight Foundation
Satake Technical Foundation;
Sumitomo Foundation; and
Takeda Science Foundation.
